More Non People Treats

I was feeling pretty ambitious with my baking last weekend that I decided that I would bake for Rocky too. It's been a while since I made him any homemade dog treats so I thought I would give it a whirl. I even bought a dog treat cookbook so I thought I would test out one of the recipes from there. I decided to go with Peanut Butter, Honey & Oat Cookies, although Rocky also likes bananas this covered one of his favorite ingredients. It wasn't difficult to make the batter but I could tell from the get-go it was very sticky, I had no idea how this was going to be able to be cut out into the dog bone shapes. Turns out it was not easy. I was not a fan of this batter at all for making shapes out of. It took a TON of flour to roll them out and cut them out. I think I am going to stick with the original recipe I used for making dog bone shaped cookies going forward. Rocky had no objections to these cookies, he seemed to enjoy them, although I didn't enjoy cutting them out.

Peanut Butter, Honey and Oat Cookies
Source: The Ultimate Dog Treat Cookbook

1 cup peanut butter
3 cups quick oats
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup low sodium chicken bouillon powder
1/3 cup warm water

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Warm the peanut butter in the microwave for about 1 minute until it's soft enough to mix with other ingredients. Grind 2 cups of the quick oats in a food processor or blender until a coarse flour. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix together all the ingredients. Drop the dough onto a breadboard sprinkeled with flour or more ground quick oats. Work the dough on the board until you can make a ball. Roll out the dough to about a 1/4 inch think. Using a 3 inch dog bone shaped cookie cutter to cute the dough into shapes. Place the cookies on greased cookie sheets (The dough is soft and crumbly so transfer the cut-out shapes gently). Bake for about 10 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies are golden brown. Remove from oven, let cool thoroughly, and store in an airtight container.

Mom where's my cookie?
 Eyeing and enjoying the cookies!
