Dear Apple

Dear Apple (iPod),

I'm not very happy with you right now. You clearly own the market in mp3 players and while I do think you make a good product, you also have quite a 'game' going on. My lovely purple iPod nano (4th (or 5th?) generation) has now crapped out on me after only 2 years (at least I think it's two years old). I was at the gym one day and you just stopped working, turning your wheel no longer did anything. I tried all your troubleshooting on your website such as restarting, restoring, and updating software and anything else you had on there and still nothing. I did nothing to inflict harm upon my poor ipod. I did not drop it, or spill anything on it, all I did was lovingly use it, mostly at the gym. I cannot function at the gym without you.

After all my own troubleshooting and googling proved unsuccessful, I drove to my closest apple store only to find out you were closed for remodeling, that would have been a wasted drive had it not been redeemed by the fact that I was able to get frozen yogurt (I live for frozen yogurt). So then I had to ask plead with Mike to see if he would go to the next closest Apple store at the Garden State Mall (which is a nightmare of a mall to go to). He patiently waited over an hour to talk with one of your "geniuses" only to find out there was nothing else that could be done for my poor iPod that simply crapped out. One can't help but feel like this was not a high quality product. For a mere $80 you could replace my iPod with the same model (or that's what Mike said it sounded like, and it wasn't even clear if that was for a refurbished one).

So instead I went out and had to replace you with a new nano, after all who wants an old iPod. I've come home and opened up my new shiny package, a green iPod nano this time. You stopped making purple, how could you stop making purple? It was a beautiful purple color that I loved, so now I have green. Only to find out you can no longer play videos on this 'new and improved' nano. Ugh. I liked that feature, why would you take that away as well? So now I am left with a new, green nano, that no longer plays videos when a week ago there was nothing wrong with my lovely purple iPod. Thanks for nothing, even though I went out and repeated this cycle again. I will not hold my breath to see how long this one lasts for, yet I will continue to buy your products.

Signed A Conflicted iPod Lover,
Rachel

For sake of documenting this, in case my kids are ever reading this one day and are like what the heck is an iPod, enclosing pictures of my 3 iPod generations to date so far. My blue 2G, My Purple 4G and my new Green 4G
