Day at the Park

I had been begging Mike to go down to Liberty State Park for the afternoon for a while now. I thought it would be a nice little family trip down to the park. I estimated it to be about 35 minutes away, yea my estimation was off. I feel like I've had this conversation/thought before, I hate driving to Jersey City. I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea or easy to get to, but it wasn't. Driving to Jersey City can be such a nightmare. Our GPS literally took us through a lovely ghetto, beautiful little neighborhood, and it probably took us closer to and hour and 15 minutes, Mike was running out of patience by the time we finally arrived at the park. Not the best way to get there clearly, I would not want to make that drive on my own the way that we went, so we agreed this would probably be our first and only trip to Liberty State Park.

Once we finally arrived after our lovely drive, we discovered all the free parking was taken already and we had to pay $7 to park there, so we had to make the most of our trip. I will say the park itself was beautiful, it was a really nice spot. There is a nice path that runs along the whole thing, we walked towards the side of Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty first. Ellis Island was so close it was like you could reach out and touch it, it probably didn't hurt it either that it was so close there is a bridge for approved vehicles to reach the island so it really wasn't that far off. The path also had great views of the statue of liberty too! Rocky seemed to enjoy his time at the park as well. Here's a bunch of pictures from our little excursion.
Family Picture Time with the Little Furball
Great views of the city and the new Freedom Tower
Come on Dad let's go this way!
 Cruise ship leaving Manhattan harbor
Hey this guy looks like me. It's my long lost cousin!
9/11 Memorial. Crazy to think WTC was right across from here
All in all a beautiful day at the park, once we actually got there!
