Book Review - Escape

I have been reading so many books lately, it's almost crazy how fast I'm burning through them. Thanks to my new found exploration of the library both of real books and the ability to take out e-books online and also to amazon for having a plethora of free books to pick from my habit has not been too costly lately. One of the reasons I am reading books so quickly is that the library only gives you 7 days to read  the ebook loans so it forces you to read quickly if you want to know how the book ends before the loan expires. I have yet to see how the loan expires though like if you don't have the wi-fi turned on, on your kindle will it just stay there till you refresh it? I would think so but I haven't found out yet, so in the meantime I've been reading pretty quickly.

My last two book reads have both been library e-book loans so hence the reading them quicker than I have been at updating my blog so I'm trying to catch up on reviewing them now....

Book Title: Escape by Barbara Delinsky

Book Summary (from Amazon): Emily Aulenbach is an idealistic young lawyer who once dreamed of representing victims of corporate abuse. Instead, she now spends her days in a cubicle arguing victims of corporate greed out of their rightful claims. She no longer connects with much in her life, period, with the exception of three things—her computer, her BlackBerry, and her watch. One day, she snaps. Without telling anyone where she is going, she heads north to Bell Valley, New Hampshire, the small town where she spent a life-altering summer during her college years. There, she will set out to forge new relationships with lovers, long-lost friends and the person she once wanted to become.

Book Review: I've never read a book by Barbara Delinsky before, although I'm pretty sure my Mom has read a number of her books. Since this was my first novel by her, I can't relate it to any of her other books. The book is a pretty simple premise, who hasn't dreamed of running away from their life at a certain point? It's only normal. I wish most days that I could run away from my job. In the book the main character does exactly just that, she up and runs away from her day to day life with no real plan in mind. If only life were that easy, thankfully her husband was there to keep paying their bills, since in real life you can't really just do that, but its a fiction novel so real life doesn't always apply, but I digress...

In terms of the novel I did enjoy the storyline, it was simple but also easy to relate to the main character and get pulled into her stuggles. I don't want to give too much away but I did like the storyline with her husband and how he continued to support her, and that the storyline with her ex boyfriend did not go in a direction I did not like, or else that would have made me angry and might have changed my thoughts about the book. There was this whole what I'll call, 'different' storyline with the main character's connection to wolves, I'm not really sure about that whole piece of it but at least it didn't overtake the whole book.  In the end, I enjoyed the book overall. It another quick, easy light read and was easy to pull for the characters and want to see them work through their issues.
