For our day of fun we were headed off to America's Oldest Winery, Brotherhood Winery. I couldn't believe America's Oldest Winery was located such a short distance from our house up in the Hudson Valley Region (I love the Hudson Valley by the way). All 6 of us piled into Mom's little Honda Accord and Dad sped away, his driving was also a whole other story, all of us were relieved when we did arrive a little under an hour later. See the look of relief on Mike's face below
Mike treated the Dad's (and Mom's) to the wine tasting flights. We each got to try five different wines, and there were two different flights to chose your five wines from. Each of the three couples did one and one so we all really got to try ten different wines. I can't find the little paper that we got to rate each of the wines we tasted but we all liked the majority of the wines, with a few small exceptions. One of them being the Rosario wine, pictured below, apparently that is the wine you get at church (I wouldn't know since I have never had the wine at church, not even on my wedding day). That one was not very good, but the Reisling, and even the Strawberry wine they had were quite tasty. Mike and I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir and we picked up a couple of bottles of that one. I am quite a picky red wine drinker, so when we liked that one we knew we had to get some to bring home.
I'm so mad that I forgot my camera at home, I meant to bring it. I only got a couple of crappy shots from my phone so those will have to do until our next visit up there.
We had a great time trying all the wines, it was definately worth the hour drive from our house and I would go back again. Although the grounds were not overly impressive, not like at Benmarl Winery (also in the Hudson Valley) that we've visited a couple times, the wine and atmosphere was still a lot of fun!
