One of the greatest gifts (or so I think) that we have received off our registry so far is a new crockpot. Some might say I am actually obsessed with my crockpot. But in a day and age where I spend more time in my car than I do in my kitchen, this is the greatest invention! A crock pot allows you to throw in raw ingredients in the morning, leave for work, and let the crock pot do all the work and you will arrive home to a delicious aroma and dinner! Ready the minute you walk in the door. The tough part is when we use it when we are home all day and you have to smell the food all day. Every time we walk by the crock pot we stand over it and look at it and take in the delicious aromas coming from it.
Prior to this we had a very small and very old crockpot (although Mike finds it to be a vintage classic and wouldn't let me get rid of it). I've been able to make all kinds of delicious meals in it, from some beef stew to cooking an ENTIRE chicken in it. Yes thats right, put in an entire chicken and by the time it is ready the chicken is so moist and it literally falls right off the bone. In fact for Christmas I actually got the same slow cooker cook book from both my Mother and my Mother-in-Law. So I am definately thoroughly enjoying my new crockpot! I'll have to post some of my new favorite recipes sometime.
