I love reading. Reading to me takes me into another place; when I'm reading a book I forget everything that is bothering me and I am instantly transported into another place. That is something I can never get from even the best tv show. As many favorite shows as I have I'm still fully aware of my surroundings with a book it's so different. I love reading on to see what is going to happen with the character and being completely engrossed by the story. That is exactly what happened to me with my last book.
Book Title: Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella
Book Summary (from Amazon): Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don’t get visited by ghosts. Or do they?
When the spirit of Lara’s great-aunt Sadie—a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance—mysteriously appears, she has one request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie’s possession for more than seventy-five years, because Sadie cannot rest without it.
Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie’s necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different “twenties” girls learn some surprising truths from and about each other. Written with all the irrepressible charm and humor that have made Sophie Kinsella’s books beloved by millions, Twenties Girl is also a deeply moving testament to the transcendent bonds of friendship and family.
Book Review: I'm not going to lie I was skeptical going into this one. The premise of the book is based on a girl being visited by her dead aunt. This was another free ebook that I had put on my library list and when it became available I felt obligated to read it. I didn't expect to become as engrossed in the book as I did. Not to say that the beginning of the book didn't pull me in but the last 30% really captivated me, I was hooked. Since I read it on my kindle I can absolutely say the last 30% of the book was my favorite, I loved it. I loved the conclusion and the resolution that the end of the book provided, it was perfect.
Once I got past the fact that the main character was talking to her dead great-aunt Sadie, I loved it (which is not your typical book). And they didn't make it seem like that was perfectly normal or anything, they worked that aspect into the storyline. For that reason it was different than your average chick lit novel of boy meets girl there was another added storyline. I found myself snickering aloud as I finished the book and loving the ending. I also loved the added love storyline of Lara and Ed, it was perfect. Sadie was truly Lara's guardian angel and it made it seem like she was sent there on purpose.
Overall I have to say since its been less than 10 minutes since I finished this book and I felt compelled to update my blog immediately that I really enjoyed being sucked into this storyline, which although I had my doubts in the beginning really finished quite strong.
